Past Activities of Human Rights and Race Relations Centre In 2001, the event was held on March 26 and was presided over by Hon Hedy Fry, the then Secretary of State for Multiculturalism at Hotel Marriot 525 Bay Street. Other guests included Hon Vivienne Poy, a senator from Toronto Judy Sgro MP from York West. The Gold Medals were given to Joyne Lavides, Editor Kultra Magazine. The Police officers who got the Gold Medals included: Ean Algar, Chief of Halton Polioce, Rich Paradis of Peel Regional Police, Sgt Bissson Ramdewar of York Regional Police Service, Acting Inspector Nick Memme of Toronto Regional Police Service and Mr Sultan Quershi, the Treaesurer of the Human Rights and Race Relations Centre. In 2003, the event was held on March 21, in Metrohall Room No 308 and the Hon Carl DeFaria Ontario Minister of Citizenshipo and Culture was the chief guest. Other guests included Khalifa Abdul Aziz Vice President of AMI, Sarah Crawford Vice President, Public Affairs CHUM TV, and Madeline Ziniak Vice President and Station Manager of OMNI 1 and 11. In 2004, the event was held on March 22, and the Chief guest was Laurel Broten, Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier of Ontario. Other guests included Mr Naseem Mahdi, the Presdent and Missionary incharge of Ahmadya Movement in Islam, Sarah Crawford Vice President, Public Affairs CHUM TV, Catherine LeBlanc-Miller, a Trustee of Catholic District School Board. In 2005, the event was held on March 23, at 9:00 am, under the presidentship of Honourable Mary Anne Chambers Minister for Children and Youth Services.
